„Data Ethics and Algorithmic Bias“
Anotacija: As artificial intelligence and automated systems increasingly drive decisions in education, hiring, and healthcare, understanding algorithmic bias is more crucial than ever. Far from being completely objective, AI models learn from historical data and design choices that can accidentally reinforce existing social inequalities. This seminar explores how automated tools perpetuate bias—examining real-world examples in college admissions, grading, and predictive algorithms—and highlights the risks of relying on opaque "black box" systems.
Moving beyond the problems, the session outlines essential ethical principles and practical solutions to ensure AI serves everyone fairly. We will discuss core topics including data privacy, learner autonomy, and algorithmic equity, while reviewing concrete strategies like representative data collection, fairness audits, and human oversight. Join us to explore how we can build more transparent, accountable, and ethically grounded data practices.
