Admission to PhD studies in 2026

Applications for the 2026 main admission to doctoral studies are accepted from March 3 to June 25, 2026* (12:00 p.m.). 

*Applications and admission documents for applicants who have obtained a master's degree in a foreign country are accepted until May 18 (12:00 p.m.)

Vilnius University General Admission Procedure

The Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Vilnius University offers doctoral studies in two fields of Natural Science and one field of Technological Science. Applicants may choose the topics offered in the following fields:

 

Applicants must have a Master's qualification degree or a higher education degree equivalent to it (Admission Rules for 2026 entry to Doctoral Studies at Vilnius University).

The application with all required enclosures must be registered in the system at https://is.vu.lt/pls/dokt/isas.register?p_kalba=en and sent by e-mail .

 

Admission criteria and interview time for Informatics

Selection Procedure: Interview.

The interview will take place on 2026 June 29 at 9 am Vilnius, Akademijos str. 4, 203

 

During the interview:

  1. Present their research (publications, thesis, master's thesis);
  2. Motivation for the chosen PhD topic;
  3. Motivation to study for a PhD.

Admission to the field of study is based on a descending list of selection scores. The applicants with the highest selection score have priority for the chosen field of study.

The interview will take place on 2026 June 29 at 9 am Vilnius, Akademijos str. 4, 203

 

During the interview:

Admission to the field of study is based on a descending list of selection scores. The applicants with the highest selection score have priority for the chosen field of study.

 

PhD studies start on 1 October.

The persons are considered admitted when they sign a study agreement with the University and are accepted to study by the order of the Rector.

Concluding of agreements with applicants invited to doctoral studies through the bank authentication: July 13 – 16 (until 2:00 p.m.)

Direct concluding of agreements with applicants (for persons unable to identify themselves through a bank): July 13 – 17 (until 3:00 p.m.)
