The workshop will be held on July 3-6, 2012, in the Baltic sea-side resort Nida, Neringa, (http://www.visitneringa.com/en), Lithuania (http://neris.mii.lt/indexe.php). Neringa, situated on the sandy peninsula at the Baltic Sea, is a nice corner of Europe that has to be explored. Neringa ideally suits for scientific meetings because of the special status of United Nations for Neringa a quiet natural environment, limited urbanization and public attendance composes with modern organizational infrastructure and convenient connection through Klaipeda and Vilnius with many cities.
The organization of StoProg-2012 in Lithuania, geographically situated in the centre of Europe, is a good opportunity to promote the Stochastic Programming Community in the Eastern Europe and Baltic countries, moreover, the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, which is organising the Workshop, is one of the widely recognised centers on optimization in Eastern Europe and former SU. Lately, the Baltic countries are the most rapidly developing region in Europe with growing investments, essentially changing infrastructure, modern and intensive social-cultural life. This opens the challenges of best decision making for researchers in their convex shape and stimulates the implementation of stochastic techniques in decision processes, involving the complex interaction among people, material and money.
